Irons

Shorts irons

These are the irons No.8 and 9, known as the "Winning Club". When one approaches a green with a short iron, one aims at the flag (and thus the hole) with a much better insurance than if one uses a medium or long iron.

How are the heads of irons made ?

Golfer

The irons are made in two ways, with a forged head or a molded head.

The forged head model, made of a less rigid steel, appeals to both amateurs and professionals because the material is more flexible, however, it is fragile and easily scratched.

The model head molding, made of a harder steel, is chosen by golfers with medium or higher handicap, because it gives them a greater comfort zone and helps to send the ball higher with more precision.

What angle of opening?

All manufacturers give specific opening angles to irons, but:

- irons n°8 offers an average angle of 38° ;

- irons n°9 offers an average angle of 42° ;
